Squash at Merritt Athletic Clubs Canton
Squash is back at Canton! Join squash coach Alex Hurwitz for lessons and clinics to help better your game. Squash lessons and clinics are available to both adults and children in all levels, from beginner to advanced. Clinics are a great way to get together with a group of people, practice your shots, and learn new game tactics.

Check out the New Year Squash Clinic Special Package! Save money on squash clinics and buy a package of 4 sessions for $45! Squash clinics are one hour in length and need a minimum of 3 people and a maximum of 6 people.

  • Semi-Private Lessons - a great way to learn with a friend-
    Members $35, Non-Members $50
  • Private Lessons - Package of 10 Lessons:
    Members $395 for 30 minutes, $575 for 60 minutes
  • Private Lessons - Members $45 for 30 minutes; $65 for 60 minutes. Non-Members $60 for 30 minutes; $80 for 60 minutes. Receive one-on-one attention; a great way to learn the game or improve your stroke.
  • Squash Clinic - Members $25; Non-Members $50
  • Box League - $75 for 5 weeks
  • Ladder Play - Will start once a minimum of 5 people sign up and will include one challenge match each week.

Results will be recorded and viewable on the US Squash League website at www.ussquash.com. It is a requirement that you become a US Squash member in order to participate and track results. Eight-Week Shamrock 5K Training Program
Get your body in tip-top shape to run the Shamrock 5K on March 15! this program is for the beginner as well as the seasoned runner. Group trains twice a week for 8 weeks with running coach Paule Vece. Training includes cardio and interval training. Participants will receive a personal running schedule. **You must register for the 2010 Shamrock 5K separately. The race will be held March 14 in downtown Baltimore at 1:15PM. Register early to reserve your spot!**

Police Officer Conditioning Training
Police officers, it is time to get in shape! This program will help build conditioning and recovery as well as touch on multiple muscle groups responsible for completing a task. The program will also take into consideration agility, balance, flexibility, and quickness in motion. The program is designed to simulate real life scenarios with a focus on intensity and interval training. Members $149, non-members $249.

Program runs February 15 through March 12.

High Intensity Strength Training
High Intensity Strength Training provides better results, requires less workout time, and poses much less risk of injury and overuse issues. Because of the high intensity of the workout, it is important to always have a workout companion to spot, encourage, and at times offer pressure or resistance as the other partner lifts. We are offering HIST ths Valentine's Day to couples as an opportunity to build strength, not just in the body, but also to give you an opportunity to spend time with your loved one! HIST requires attention, communication, encouragement between training partners, and is a great way to build a new bond with someone through the challenges of pushing the body and each other in an entirely new way.

100 Miles in 2010 at Merritt Athletic Clubs Canton
We’re challenging you to swim 100 miles in 2010! Swimmers will receive a 100 Miles Club swim cap after signing up. Swimmers who complete their laps throughout the 2010 calendar year will receive a 100 Miles t-shirt at the completion of the 100 miles. One mile in the Towson pool is 66 lengths of the pool. Have the lifeguard sign off on your completed laps after swimming. This is a FREE program and is open to Merritt members only. Sign up is easy! Hooping Dance Class at Merritt Athletic Clubs Canton
This is not your Grandma's hula hoop! In this form of exercise, a larger-sized hoop is twirled around the waist, hips, arms, and through the air in a fun, dance-like movement that is guaranteed to get you fit and make you smile. Hoops will be provided.

This 45-minute full body workout produces incredible physical results...results you can see and feel quickly. It is fun and social, and adapts to all fitness levels. Gravity focuses on muscular endurance exercises that lengthen and strengthen your muscles and is designed to provide time-efficient, effective, full body conditioning. Gravity Group Strength is group personal training of 4-6 participants so you will receive one on one support in this small class setting. Classes are fee based but extremely cost effective. Winter Dance Program The Dance Program at Merritt Athletic Clubs offers recreational, non-competitive movement and dance oriented classes for children ages 2-1/2 through 8 years. These classes are designed to engage children in fun and fit activities while appreciating the discipline and elegance of dance. Children will not only learn appropriate steps and styles, but will also build confidence and increase muscle coordination and kinesthetic awareness. Merritt Athletic Clubs Canton is proud to present Weight Watchers Meetings! Meetings will be held Saturdays at 8:30AM. Weight Watchers gives you the personal support, structure, and goal setting that you may need to reach your weight loss goals. You do not have to be a Merritt Athletic Clubs member to attend the Weight Watchers meetings, but you must be a Weight Watchers member. Just stop by the club this week and a Merritt associate can register you in 5 minutes.

Fast Trac
Join Canton's latest fitness craze - Monday through Friday from 6:00AM-8:30AM and 9:00AM-11:00AM and Saturdays from 8:00AM-1:00PM. This 35-minute circuit is offered in a group environment that is overseen by a personal trainer and incorporates a full-body workout to get your heart pumping and your body burning calories to help you reach your fitness goals. Merritt Canton Kids Zone Events
Join our Kids Zone staff for fun, games, and educational activities for children of all ages! No appointment necessary. The following activities are FREE for all members:
ABC Crafts, Stamping Crazy, Movie Day, and Story Time. All activities take place during Kids Zone operating hours.

Parents' Night Out and Afternoon Escape Enjoy some free time while we entertain your child in a safe and fun-filled environment! Snacks, games, scavenger hunts, movies, story time, obstacle courses, and more are included! Parents' Night Out reservations must be made by the Wednesday prior to the event. Afternoon Escape appointments must be made 24 hours prior to drop-off.

Parents Night Out Fee: $25 for first child, $5 each additional child.
Ages: 2 years and older. Every Friday from 5:00PM-9:00PM.

Afternoon Escape Fee: $25 for first child, $5 each additional child.
Ages: 2 months and older. Tuesdays and Thursdays from 1:00PM-5:00PM.
Kids Zone Club discounts available with multiple registrations.

Infant Mommy and Me A safe, effective workout for new moms and their babies under 15 months. This class will focus on strengthening abdominal muscles, increasing circulation and flexibility while developing upper and lower back strength. Guaranteed to improve balance and coordination. This class is safe for beginners with added challenges for advanced students. Emphasis: Aerobic and stretching exercise and weight resistance training. Members $89. Non-Members $99.
