bigstock-Acai-Blueberry-Smoothie-Bowl-W-248604007If you’re reading this, chances are you care deeply about your health and well-being. You’ve either been consistently following a healthy, balanced diet or you’ve reached a point in life where you’re ready to start. Good for you! Your body will love you for it.

But let’s be honest, iceberg lettuce and celery sticks don’t exactly thrill the taste buds. And while taking care of your body may require a few sacrifices, depriving yourself of flavor shouldn’t be one of them. If you’re getting bored of the same old meals, or noticing stronger cravings for the types of foods you know you shouldn’t be eating, worry no longer. Smoothie bowls are an excellent option to get you back to feeling excited about healthy eating. And if you currently own a blender and have your favorite fruits and veggies, you don’t even need to leave the house!

To make your life even easier, here are a few recipes to get you started:

1. Green Island Smoothie Bowl

  • 1 cup frozen bananas
  • 1/2 cup frozen mango slices
  • 1/2 cup frozen pineapple slices
  • 1/2 cup fresh spinach
  • 1/2 cup ice
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • 1/2 cup almond milk

2. Banana Smoothie Bowl

  • 1 cup frozen bananas
  • 1/2 cup ice
  • 2 tsp vanilla
  • 2-3 dried pitted dates
  • 1/2 cup coconut milk

3. Berry Smoothie Bowl

  • 1 cup frozen bananas
  • 1/2 cup frozen strawberries
  • 1/2 cup frozen blueberries
  • 1/2 cup apple juice

Combine the ingredients and blend on the lowest possible setting for about a minute, or until there are no fruit chunks and everything is well-blended. The consistency should be creamy and thick like ice cream. If your smoothie bowl is looking a little watery, adding more fruit and ice will help it thicken.

Feel free to get crazy with these recipes! Make it fun! The Berry Smoothie Bowl is even creamier with a tablespoon of almond butter. The Green Island Smoothie bowl is a fantastic breakfast option. Topped with a row of granola, shredded coconut, and chia seeds, it’s sure to give you the energy you need to get you through the day. The Banana Smoothie Bowl is an awesome substitute for ice cream.
