Swimming and summer go hand in hand. There are pool parties to attend and trips to local shorelines. This is the time of year when parents and kids think the most about swim lessons. After all, you want your children to be safe and have fun in the water. But what about when summer is over? Learning how to swim is still a valuable skill and a good way to stay active all year, especially if you have access to an indoor pool.
Swim lessons are a good idea for children year-round, even after the summer is over.
Staying Active and Healthy
Indoor swim lessons give your children a way to stay physically active during colder seasons when activity normally wanes. While kids often play outdoors all summer, organized activities are the best way to keep your kids active during the winter. Swim lessons are a great way to help your children enjoy a wide range of physical activities through exercise that they already enjoy. If you’re looking for a way to ensure your children stay active through the winter, indoor swim lessons is a great option.
A Fun Weekly Activity
During the summer, swim lessons become a weekly event that your children look forward to. Many kids make friends and have a lot of fun at their swim lessons, and don’t want them to stop. If lessons take place in an indoor pool, the fun doesn’t have to end. You can keep swim lessons as a fun part of the weekly routine, which can help children stay enthusiastic with something to look forward to every week as the school year begins.
Training for Swim Team
Does your child love swimming so much that they are thinking about joining their school swim team? Continuing swimming lessons is a great way to help them prepare for an extracurricular sport they will enjoy for years to come. Swimming as a sport provides lifelong health benefits and may open further opportunities, from winning awards to college scholarships. Children of any age can join a local swim team and many high schools feature a swim team as your child’s option for sports. Foster that enthusiasm and help your child get on the swim team with year-round swim lessons.
Improving Skills for Next Summer
Give your child the opportunity to take on next summer with much better swimming skills. If they’ve been practicing through the school year, they can knock the socks off their swim test and swim gracefully at any beach excursions or pool parties with friends. Your child will be safer and more confident when it comes time to swim recreationally during the summer season. They will have a better time in social settings and you will enjoy peace of mind knowing your child is a strong swimmer whether they are at the pool, lake, ocean, or riverside.
Children who are still unsure about their swimming skills or are enthusiastic to get better can be swimming like a fish by the time next summer begins if they take swim lessons throughout the year.
Swim Lessons at the Michael Phelps Swim School
At Merritt Clubs, we are proud to host the Michael Phelps Swim School program. Group lessons and private lessons are available based on whatever works best to help your child learn to swim and gain confidence in the water. Private lessons typically last about 30 minutes and group lessons are based on the programs available in select Merritt Clubs locations.
We offer classes that help students learn swimming safety, develop swim stroke, water sports and games, growing personal swim skills, and swim rescue.
Year-Round Indoor Pools at Merritt Clubs
Swimming is a healthy and fun activity all year, not just during the summer. This is one reason why a number of Merritt Clubs locations offer indoor pools open that are open year-round. Children benefit from swim lessons any time of year and often enjoy maintaining their swim lesson routine even after the school year begins. Of course, year-round swimming is good for adults, too. At Merritt Clubs, you can include swimming in your workout routine and improve your own swimming strength and confidence in the water with access to year-round indoor pools.
