…you’ve never weight-trained before.
If you’ve never lifted weights, the Les Mills BODYPUMP is an ideal place to start a strength and conditioning routine. The moves are repetitive, so you have time to concentrate on perfecting them. You can start with low weights–or no weight at all, just the bar–and build up slowly. BODYPUMP teaches the most efficient weightlifting moves like dead lifts, squats, or bicep curls within a beginner’s range of motion, so you know you won’t get hurt. And, most importantly, BODYPUMP is a community. So you won’t be out there alone on the weight room floor, feeling as if you’re floundering. Your fellow students and your teachers will help you!
…you’re stuck in your usual strength and conditioning routine.
Pushing past a plateau is one of the hardest parts of strength training. With BODYPUMP, you can use the music and the companionship to move past your current weights. Remember, BODYPUMP builds strength with high reps, so you don’t want to add too much weight. But once you get a feel for what your body can handle with the increased reps from your usual fitness routine, you can add more weight in small increments until you get yourself past the level you’ve been stuck at. Never underestimate the power of music, friends, and fun.
…you need a rest from your usual routine because you’re injured, or just plain bored.
The extremely controlled movements of BODYPUMP mean that you can be sure there are no surprises. Even though the class is fast-moving and exciting, the moves themselves are carefully controlled at all times. Tell your instructors about your injuries or any more information that they might need to help you get the most out of the class. They are trained to help you modify any moves that would be deleterious, and even add moves to help strengthen around your injury.
