2026 will be here before you know it and it’s the perfect time to reset your fitness mindset. Keep in mind most people set unrealistic goals that fizzle out by ‘Quitters Day’ which is normally the 2nd Friday of January. Which, in 2026, is 9 days into the year! So here are a few tips for a bit longer term success.
- Be specific
- Instead of saying ‘I want to get fit’ aim for a measurable target. ‘I want to complete 3 strength workouts a week’ or ‘I want to run a 5k by spring’
- Start small
- Small wins build momentum. If it’s only 10-15 minutes of daily activity, it will add up. Over time, you should be able to increase your intensity or duration.
- Track your progress
- Use apps, journals, or photos to monitor your progress. Seeing improvement can keep your motivation high.
- Celebrate the wins
- Every milestone matters! But have that long term milestone and treat yourself to non-food related rewards for the big ones, you shaved 3-5 minutes off your 5k time, or you hit an all-time PR. For example, a new outfit or massage.
Let’s start 2026 with a smart approach to ensure your fitness journey is sustainable and fun.
