Shorter distances, around 200 meters to 500 meters, are similar to sprints, where you can focus on explosive movements to cover as much distance as possible in a short amount of time. Then longer rows, for 2000 meters or more, are used to build endurance with steady strokes. As with the treadmill, incorporating both into your routine will help you condition your body and reap all the benefits.
