may_blog_image_2018Are you getting enough sleep? Make sure you’re getting enough shut-eye with all the summer events starting up! Learn how to slow down at the end of the day, fall asleep sooner and feel more rested. Getting enough sleep makes you more successful at work or school, puts you in a better mood, and can affect your health/weight. Just FYI, exercise can help you sleep better!

Take time this month to notice the way exercise affects your sleeping habits, as well as caffeine. Caffeine can help you make the most of your day, but it can also inhibit your sleep patterns. Check out this helpful article on the best times of day to drink caffeine.

  1. Before bedtime, change your phone screen to be dimmer – if you have an iPhone, use the Night Shift mode to make your screen color warmer automatically close to bedtime.
  2. Set a bedtime alarm so you know what time you have to get ready for bed in time to get your desired sleep amount
  3. Put away your phone and turn off the TV 30 minutes before bed
  4. Sleep with your phone on silent or put it somewhere it won’t wake you up
  5. Get into the habit of reading before bed so you can forget about the day’s stressors and create a relaxing bedtime habit
  6. Use a sleep tracker to identify when/how you get the deepest sleep
  7. Use white noise machine if you are a light sleeper
  8. Don’t drink coffee past 5:00pm.
  9. Work out hard and make sure your muscles are tired with BODYPUMP to prevent restless leg
