XRKade is now at Merritt Eldersburg! XRKade was developed by a group of gamers and fitness enthusiasts with a goal of making games and physical activity more fun.
Did you know:

- 92% of kids ages 2-17 have access to video games on a daily basis.
- Boredom is reported as one of the top reasons why people stop working out.
Children (and adults!) ages 7 and up will be thrilled and challenged both mentally and physically with the lastest gaming technology. Virtual cycle, Dance Dance Revolution, snow boarding, the motavatrix, and much more will challenge endurance and competitiveness.

Swimmers, take the challenge to swim 100 miles in 100 days - from May 25 through September 1. Swimmers who complete their laps throughough the 100 days will receive a 100 Miles swim cap at the completion of 10 miles, a water bottle after 50 miles, and a t-shirt after 100 miles. One mile in the Eldersburg pool is 72 lengths. Cost of program: $10 if you register before May 25 and $20 afterwards.

Tang Soo Do is a traditional Korean martial art that strengthens practitioners' mind, body, and spirit. Master Hyson has been training in Tang Soo Do for 15 years and teaching for over 10 years, developing flexibility, power, stamina, strength, and self-control in all his students. Eldersburg Tang Soo Do is part of the Pan-Am Tang Soo Do Federation under the direction of Chong Su Kim from York, PA.

Wee Sports Does your child need a place to burn off energy? Wee Sport is a one hour program that will do just that! Games include tag, red light green light, bean bags, balls, etc. Wee Sport will allow your child to burn energy in a safe environment while learning foundations like playing with others, taking turns, and having FUN! For children ages 3-5. Member cost $40, non-members $80.

Kinder Krafters Young children love to paint, draw, glue, and cut. Arts and Crafts are a great way to help children develop their fine motor skills while allowing them to demonstrate their own individuality. Each week we will begin with a story from a favorite children's author. We will discuss the features of the book and then incorporate ideas from the story into craft ideas. All activities are designed to give your children a variety of experiences to use their hands and minds to create something new. Parents are welcome to participate - we can always use more hands! For ages 3-5.

Pre-K Gymnastics Pre-school ages 3 1/2-5 years old. Basic gymnastics including positions, form, tumbling, and introduction to gymnastics equipment. Join at any time. Cost pro-rated. Members $80, non-members $120.

Tumbling Strength training, flexibility and tumbling, focusing on cartwheels, round-offs,back bends, and handsprings. Ideal for cheerleaders!

Tumble Bears Gymnastics For toddlers 18 months to 36 months and a parent or caregiver. Provides a wide variety of opportunities for your child to develop social skills, physical abilities, language skills, and self esteem. Parents also have a wonderful opportunity to spend some special one-on-one time with their little ones in a stimulating and nurturing environment.

Summer Dance Session Join us for a wide variety of weekly dance classes including Ballet, Modern Dance, Tap, Jazz, Hip Hop, Introduction to Dance, and Musical Theater. Registration is now open. Open to members and non-members, ages 2 through adult. Classes take place Monday through Saturday. Please see class schedule or contact Shellie Rosso for specific class times. Fall session begins in September.
Merritt Masterpiece Art Studio Encourages participation from all interested students regardless of their background or prior knowledge. The program emphasizes individual expression while teaching new skills, ideas, and techniques to students ages 3-12. The over all curriculum focuses on art production, criticism, appreciation, aesthetics, expression, and history. At the end of the session, an exhibit will be held so parents and friends may view artwork created by the students. Program begins October 2009.
Irish Dance Workshop Join us to learn basic Irish Step Dancing. This workshop will increase yoru knowledge of Irish folk dancing. Class is open to members and non-members. Two classes (ages 5-10 and 11-adult).

Red Cross Group and Private Swimming Lessons For ages 6 months-14 years. Certified Water Safety Instructors teach beginner and advanced lessons. Younger child lessons are held in our warm water REC pool where children can touch the bottom and stay warm. More advanced lessons take place in the LAP pool. Youth Stroke Club For ages 5-15. An alternate to competitive swim team, this club refines swimming skills technique, speed, and endurance. Participants must be able to swim the length of the pool using Freestyle stroke and able to perform at Red Cross Level 3. This club is for the more advanced youth swimmer who wants the workout of swimming without the commitment of a swim team.
Mondays 5:45PM-7:00PM and/or Wednesdays 6:45PM-8:00PM
Adult Stroke Club For ages 16 and up. Group lessons focusing on swimming strokes and tailored to the ability level of each swimmer. Enhances swimming skills and fitness level. Participants must be able to swim the length of the pool using the Freestyle stroke.
Fridays from 6:00PM-7:00PM
Youth Stroke Mechanics For ages 5-13. This club is for the intermediate swimmer, able to swim the length of the pool, but still in need of basic stroke refinement. Children may need to have training in Stroke Mechanics before enrolling in Youth Stroke Club.

Merritt Athletic Swimming-Year Round Swim Team Merritt Athletic Swimming is a year round swim team that has grown to two practice locations - Towson and Eldersburg. The locations combine with over 100 swimmers. This is a competitive swim team program that is year round and offers five competitive levels in which to compete. Practices work on improving stroke form, endurance, and speed of swimmers. Practice times vary according to level. Download brochure and registration form.

Red Cross Lifeguard Certification Red Cross Lifeguard, CPR, and First Aid Certification Course. Must be 15 or older. This is a fee-based course that requires advance registration.
Pool Parties Book your child's birthday party or sports group party at the pool! We offer basic invitations and provide games and activities for your guests. Parties can be themed, basic, or even SCUBA! If you'd like a party for children under 6 years of age, you may also contact the Kids Zone for a party that consists of one hour of pool time followed by an hour at the Kids Zone.

Pool Toy Glow Swim For ages 8-13. Blast off on our NEW pool toy, the ROCKET ship, for an hour...then out go the lights and on go the glow necklaces for an hour of glow swim. Members $8.00, Non-Members $10.00. Parents may sign in child(ren), leave and then return at 10:00PM for pick up. Snacks available and for sale.

Swedish Massage A general relaxation massage, which allows the body to go into deep relaxation where rest and rejuvenation take place.
Deep Tissue For muscle tension relief and breaking up of adhesions and metabolic waste products caused by exercise, injuries, and stress.
Myofascial Release For chronic holding patterns. This is slow work and the intention is to stretch the fascia that surrounds the muscles.
Sports Massage Working with athletes to keep muscles flushed from lactic acid and metabolic waste producs trapped in the tissue from training. Reduces muscle soreness and adhesions so the athlete can maintain their training schedule.
Pregnancy Massage Designed especially for women who are either pregnant or post partum. As a woman's body goes through many physical and hormonal changes, the massasge therapist brings comfort and relief.

Children's Birthday Parties Parents, have your child's next birthday here at Merritt! Multiple themes to choose from. Parties are booked on weekends at varying times. Just relax, and we'll entertain your guests.
Parent's Nite Out Parents, leave your child(ren) with us and have a night out! Pizza and drinks included. Reservations must be made by the Wednesday prior to the night out. Member cost $15 for one child, $5 for each additional child.
